Server Migration Services

Server migration services for Linux servers, hosting accounts, websites, mailboxes, DNS, databases and infrastructure moves with planning and rollback.

Migrations Done Right

Server migrations carry real risk — data loss, extended downtime, broken services, missed DNS changes. HireSysAdmin handles migrations methodically, with planning, backups, validation, and rollback capability at every stage. We migrate Linux servers, hosting accounts, websites, databases, mailboxes, and full application stacks.

What We Migrate

  • Server to server — Linux VPS, dedicated, cloud instances
  • VPS to dedicated and dedicated to cloud
  • Old Linux to new — OS version upgrades via migration to fresh install
  • cPanel to cPanel — full account transfers with verification
  • Hosting platform changes — cPanel to Plesk, Plesk to custom stack, or reverse
  • Websites — files, databases, configuration, SSL, cron jobs
  • Databases — MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MSSQL with schema and data verification
  • Mailboxes — IMAP migration, folder structure, permissions, authentication
  • DNS — zone transfers, record recreation, TTL planning for cutover
  • SSL certificates — reissuance or transfer to new server
  • Application stacks — web server, runtime, dependencies, services
  • VMware and Proxmox VMs — virtual machine export, conversion, and import between hypervisors
  • Emergency migration — moving services off a failing or compromised server under time pressure

Migration Process

  1. Source assessment — inventory of services, data, configurations, and dependencies on the current server
  2. Target preparation — OS installation, stack configuration, security baseline on the destination
  3. Pre-migration backup — full backup of source before any transfer begins
  4. Data transfer — files, databases, mailboxes, configurations moved to target
  5. Service configuration — web server, mail, DNS, SSL, cron, application settings configured and tested
  6. DNS planning — TTL reduction in advance, record updates prepared, propagation monitoring
  7. Validation — functional testing of websites, email, databases, and application endpoints on the target
  8. Cutover — DNS switch, final data sync, service activation on the new server
  9. Post-migration checks — monitoring for errors, mail delivery verification, performance baseline, rollback readiness

Rollback and Safety

Every migration includes a rollback plan. The source server remains intact and operational until the migration is fully verified on the target. We do not decommission the source until you confirm everything is working.

Common Scenarios

  • Migrating off an end-of-life OS before support expires
  • Moving to a new hosting provider with minimal downtime
  • Consolidating multiple servers onto one
  • Splitting a single overloaded server into multiple
  • Emergency move from a failing disk, compromised server, or terminated hosting account
  • Migrating VMware VMs to Proxmox or between Proxmox clusters

How We Work

Migrations are scoped as projects with a clear plan, timeline, and communication schedule. We handle the technical execution while keeping you informed at each stage. For complex migrations involving multiple servers or services, we provide a written migration plan for your review before work begins.

Get Started

Describe your migration needs — source, destination, services involved, and any timeline constraints — and contact us for a migration plan and quote. For pricing guidance, visit our pricing page.
